Please remember the following when considering
replacement of anything on the exterior of your home.
Any homeowner wishing to replace windows, doors,
garage doors etc. or make any modification,
improvement, alteration, or addition to the exterior of a
residence, must submit a
Reston Association DRB
(Design Review Board) Application Form to consider the
changes, have it reviewed and signed off by two (2)
neighbors and a member of the HCA board, then submit
to RA for final approval and/or denial. Please refer to
Hemingway Cluster Design Guidelines which include
approved colors. For a copy of the guide, please call
John Haylock, (703)481-4524.  Failure to follow the

doors and/or windows.

The Hemingway Architectural Revue Committee (ARC)
has received Reston Association DRB approval for a
new window & door  vendor,
Jeld-Wen.  This was a
long, drawn-out process and thanks to the efforts of a
few of your neighbors, they compiled costs, warranty(s),
design and many other factors (as presented at the HCA
Annual Meeting) researching the best (durability,
maintenance, quality etc.) options available.  Everything
is in place and
Reston Association's Design Review
Board (DRB) has approved the replacement product(s),
so when considering replacement of your current
windows and/or doors new options are now available.
The suggested vendor for the new Jeld-Wen product
installation, is
Hodges WIndows & Doors located in
Falls Church.  The contact for Hemingway cluster is
Frank Gugino (frankgugino@hodgescompany.com)

When placing garbage containers and/or recyclables
out for collection, please use care in securing the items
especially on windy days.  Loose items can blow into
neighboring yards and detract from the appearance of
our community.

Stream Recycling in the Hemingway community

Speed Limit
The speed limit in HC is 15 MPH, as posted on the
sign at the entrance.  Residents have noticed the speed
limit is being exceeded and would appreciate reminding
family members and guests.

Neighborhood Watch
Historically, HC residents have kept front lights on all
night as a way of securing the neighborhood. However,
this practice has decreased recently.   It would be
beneficial if we would all keep our lights on.  A number of
us have installed a timer switch, which is very simple to
install.  It can be purchased from Home Depot, Lowe’s
and many other home suppliers.
